CBPP Hooks Mathematica۪s LaDonna Pavetti
It may not have the glitz and glamour of a basketball trade, but key D.C. low-income policy players are moving into new positions. When CBPP۪s Director of Welfare Reform and Income Support, Sharon Parrott, announced her departure (see related OOTS) to become HHS Secretary Sebelius۪ counselor for human services, she also let us know who was coming up behind her at CBPPDr. LaDonna Pavetti. LaDonna will be leaving Mathematica, Inc. where she has been a senior policy fellow, to work on TANF and related issues at CBPP. Slam dunk.
With TANF reauthorization up in 2010, LaDonna۪s expertise on the implementation of TANF and on effective work and support strategies for the hard-to-employ, will be key in the upcoming Congressional deliberations. While a Washington insider, she is also well known around the country, having conducted research or provided technical assistance in about half of the states. LaDonna is no rookie. During her nine-year tenure at Mathematica , she has authored or co-authored 46 publications. In short, CBPP has hooked another MVP.
Like Sharon, LaDonna has also has experience in the agency arena. Both served as officials within the D.C. government. Notably, LaDonna began her career as a social worker. Beyond the stats on LaDonna۪s talents and skills, her generosity of spirit is the unquantifiable variable that will contribute to her success. She۪s a team player who will undoubtedly draw the crowds during TANF reauthorization and beyond. At OOTS, we can۪t wait for LaDonna to take her first free-throw.
