Teaching educators to prepare students in poverty for success

“Educators are learning more about the disadvantages these children bring into the classroom, including trauma related to living in poverty. A new effort is underway in the North Country to help teachers better prepare those children for success. According to a recent report by the New York State Association of School Business Officials, one in five schoolchildren in New York State lives in poverty. About a half of all grade school students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.”
