“State Representative Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby) is pushing for a bill aimed at addressing the shortage of low-income housing in rural areas. The proposed bill, HB 1450, seeks to extend the period during which charitable organizations can be exempt from paying real property taxes when acquiring or developing land for building homes for low-income families. The exemption period would be extended from 18 to 24 months. Faison said that this bill is his number one priority to pass this year.”
