Spotlight Webcast: Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture
In April the White House launched “Rural Impact,” a cross-agency effort to combat poverty and improve upward mobility in rural and tribal places. The Rural IMPACT Demonstration will help communities adopt a comprehensive, whole-family framework for addressing child poverty, such as through facilitating physical co-location of services, universal intake, referral networks, shared measurement systems, and use of technology to deliver services.
Spotlight’s Jodie Levin-Epstein talked with Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack about this initiative. They discussed how “Rural Impact” aims to reduce child poverty; who oversees the initiative; the communities selected to take part in the demonstration; ways to define success; and what is important for Governors to know about the two generation approach.
