“The Social Welfare Board is a free and charitable clinic created in 1913 as St. Joseph and Buchanan County’s response to providing health care to Buchanan County residents living in poverty.

The Social Welfare Board is the oldest free and charitable clinic in the United States. Over the course of the past 12 months, the SWB has served 5,006 individual patients for a total of 18,313 patient visits through its medical, dental and women’s health clinics”
