Poverty and Inequality Report 2015
The United States ranks last among developed countries on issues of poverty and economic mobility, according to a new report from the Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality. The Center’s annual Poverty and Inequality Report compares the U.S. to nine other high-income nations on six indicators, including the strength of the country’s safety net and income and wealth inequality. The U.S. scored particularly poorly on the effectiveness of its anti-poverty programs, and the report finds that the U.S. has one of the highest rates of unemployment among people of “prime working age,” ages 25 to 54.
