Cupples said patient treatment by a nurse isn’t relegated to just what happens in a hospital room when the patient is sick or injured. Often there are times when nurses will check on patients after they’ve been discharged from care to see if they’re in a situation to avoid what put them in the hospital in the first place, and the poverty simulation gives students a chance to see things they may need to check for they wouldn’t know about otherwise.”
