New York City works to make space for rapidly rising number of asylum-seekers

“New York City has a long history of welcoming immigrants ‘with open arms.’ During the past few weeks, its arms have been under increasing strain.

On Monday, New York Mayor Eric Adams announced a round of emergency contracts with local agencies and organizations to allow the city to respond to an increasing number of asylum-seekers entering the city’s homeless shelter system.”
