Monument to commemorate deaths of poor, unidentified people
“Religious and Cook County officials will unveil a black granite monument to mark the gravesites of poor, unidentified and unborn people during a service at a Chicago cemetery. The Archdiocese of Chicago says the event at Mount Olivet Cemetery will be held Thursday afternoon. Cardinal Blase Cupich (blayz SOO’-pich), Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and other elected officials are expected to attend. Cupich says in a statement the monument will commemorate the lives of the deceased and demonstrate that every life is valuable and should be honored.”
