June 1-8, 2009: Kaiser Health Tracking Poll—Nationwide poll includes two questions on taxes and state government programs for low-income people.

“Earlier you said you favored increasing taxes on soda and sugary soft drinks (to help pay for health care reform and provide coverage for more of the uninsured). What if you heard that this kind of tax increase would hit low income people the hardest. Would you still favor increasing taxes on soda and soft drinks, or would you now oppose the increase?”

Survey by Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. Methodology: Interviewing conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates International, June 1 – June 8, 2009 and based on 1,205 telephone interviews. Sample: national adult. 804 respondents were interviewed on a landline telephone and 401 were interviewed on a cell phone, including 157 who had no landline telephone.. [USPSRA.061509HTP.R16]
