February 9 Forum – I Am Not a Tractor: How Florida Farmworkers Took on the Fast Food Giants and Won

Posted on

At least 1 million farmworkers in the U.S. harvest the produce we see on grocery store shelves, enduring strenuous working conditions, low pay, and long hours. In her new book I Am Not a Tractor! How Florida Farmworkers Took on the Fast Food Giants and Won, author Susan Marquis tells the story of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), a group of Florida farmworkers who won industry commitments to humane wages and working conditions. The Aspen Institute will host a discussion with Marquis and CIW members, moderated by former New York Times reporter Steven Greenhouse. The event will be held from 12-1:30 p.m. EST at the Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C. Click here to register.
