February 12 Forum – The American Working Class: Mobility, Family Change and Child Well-Being

Posted on

Family structure and marriage dynamics have changed substantially in recent years, and have led to declines in the well-being of children, particularly in working-class families. The American Academy of Political and Social Science and the Annie E. Casey Foundation will hold a Capitol Hill briefing to discuss the relationship between family structure and the state of the working class. Speakers include Andrew Cherlin, professor at Johns Hopkins University; Michael Gerson, columnist at the Washington Post; Ron Haskins, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution; Sara McLanahan, professor at Princeton University; and Robert Putnam, professor at Harvard University and author of Our Kids: The American Dream in Crisis. The event will be held in the Russell Senate Office Building from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m EST. Click here to register.
