“’These are the rights, responsibilities, and respects that all Delaware people have access to, but because of the homeless experience, these rights are often violated,’ she said.
‘But one of the most important and influential parts of the new bill is that it provides a way and space for people experiencing homelessness to mourn these issues when their rights are violated.’ That’s what Pinkney said.
HB 235 empowers the Office of the Attorney to initiate civil proceedings against those who are found to be discriminating against those who are experiencing homelessness.
The bill also allows people experiencing homelessness to go to the Commission on Human Rights and file complaints when their rights are violated.”
