Closing the Opportunity Gap
The Saguaro Seminar’s Closing the Opportunity Gap initiative this week released reports from five working groups focused on creating economic opportunity for low-income Americans. The groups consisted of dozens of leading experts in each of five areas: family and parenting, early childhood, K-12 education, community institutions, and employment “on-ramps” such as community college or apprenticeship. Closing the Opportunity Gap presents evidence-based policy recommendations in each of the five subject areas, including promoting family stability, refocusing on early childhood health and education, and reducing economic housing segregation.
