A Clear Path to Ending Homelessness
Ending homelessness in the United States is a feasible goal if federal, state, and local governments commit resources to evidence-based programs, according to a new report from the Urban Institute. Homelessness Is a Solvable Problem notes that total homelessness in the U.S. has fallen by more than 13 percent since the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness released Opening Doors, a federal strategic plan to end homelessness by the end of 2020. The report outlines the strategies that have worked to end homelessness for veterans, families, and unaccompanied minors in cities and states over the past few years, and calls for greater commitment to the goal of ending homelessness in the near future.
