“The Atlanta metro area has been identified as one of the worst in the nation for economic mobility and income inequality, particularly for African-Americans. Georgia is No. 1 for business in the nation and yet in the top 10 states for people living in poverty. Further, Georgia has ranked among the 10 worst states for public education and graduation rates, with inadequate investments in workforce training and education equity, resulting in huge numbers of Georgia residents being shut out of the state and the metro Atlanta region’s thriving economy.”
