"As the percentage of economically disadvantaged kids in a San Antonio school district increases, the average SAT score drops, according to Texas Education Agency data for 2012-13. This correlation is present in the state agency's numbers for the last three years that the Express-News examined."

"Students at Lake Hills and Stevenson elementary schools are receiving extra support to learn to read thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Bacon Family Foundation for Bellevue Schools Foundation�s Project READiness. Project READiness provides trained instructional aides to assist with literacy instruction in kindergarten and first grade classrooms in Bellevue�s elementary schools with the highest percentages of poverty."

This is the second summit the Obama Administration has held this year that focuses on getting more low-income kids across the college finish line."
