Two days before the final presidential debate on October 19, Every Child Matters, the Nevada Institute for Children’s Research and Policy, and the Children’s Advocacy Alliance of Nevada will host a forum on policies to lift children out of poverty and create opportunities for families. The two-part forum includes a town-hall event, moderated by Chicago Tribune columnist Clarence Page. Panelists include Dr. Patricia Foxen, deputy director of research at the National Council of La Raza; Alieza Durana, policy analyst at New America; Monique Rizer, executive director of Opportunity Nation; and Katharine Stevens, research fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, among others. The event will be held at the Windmill Library Auditorium in Las Vegas at 1 p.m. PDT, and will also be livestreamed. Later that day, Robert Putnam, author of "Our Kids: The American Dream in Crisis,” will discuss the child opportunity gap in the United States and bipartisan solutions.
