More than half of states lack the funds to pay unemployment benefits for even one year of a recession, according to new research. The Center for American Progress (CAP), Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality (CPI), and National Employment Law Project will host a webinar to discuss proposals to modernize U.S. unemployment insurance programs. Speakers include Rachel West, program director at CAP; Kali Grant, program coordinator at CPI; and Sharon Dietrich, managing attorney at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia.
