The past few years have seen renewed interest and investment in youth summer jobs programs in response to high unemployment rates among young people, particularly low-income and minority youth. But such programs struggle to prove their effectiveness and there are no agreed-upon best practices for the field. The Brookings Institution will host an event to explore the elements of high-performing youth summer jobs programs and present new research on best practices. Speakers include Michael Nutter, former mayor of Philadelphia; Michael Gritton, executive director of KentuckianaWorks; and Kerry Sullivan, president of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. The event will be held at Brookings in Washington, D.C., from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. EDT. Click here to register.
