Rural Poverty in America Is An “Emergency”
A report from advocacy group Save the Children ranks the United States 36th out of 175 nations when it comes to childhood poverty, including factors such as access to healthy food, adolescent birth rates and school dropout rates. The End of Childhood Report calls rural poverty in America “an emergency,” citing high concentrations of poverty in the Mississippi Delta and Appalachia.
