With a Catholic archbishop against them, voucher foes win control of school board in key race

“Ever since school reform advocates won control of the Douglas County School Board in Colorado in 2009, the wealthy district just outside Denver has pushed through corporate-based reform, the kind supported by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. Board members backed charter schools and approved a controversial program to use public money for private and religious school tuition through a voucher program that was challenged all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court (and recently sent back to the Colorado Supreme Court). But now, voters have had enough.”
