Washington Post Cites Spotlight Exclusive Commentary

Posted on

In his column today, Washington Post metro columnist Courtland Milloy cites a Spotlight exclusive commentary by DC Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee that ran last February.  The piece, entitled “Ending Poverty through Education,” argued that, when it comes to poverty, “The obstacle is not one of knowledge but of social and political will, with education as the lynchpin.”  Milloy praises Rhee۪s “profound egalitarian insights,” but notes she has become “one [of] the most polarizing figures in the city.”With this year۪s mayoral race in DC likely to be heavily contested, OOTS is glad to see Spotlight commentaries figuring heavily in the debate over the direction of the city.  With planned commentaries on front-of-mind topics like spending and deficits this fall, OOTS expects Spotlight to continue to play this role on a national stage as well.Posted by Sam____________________________________________________
