With six primary debates already in the books and at least 10 still to come, the Republican and Democratic candidates for the 2016 presidential election have staked out positions on the minimum wage, paid family leave, safety net spending, and other issues affecting millions of low-income Americans.

Spotlight has been tracking all the candidates’ remarks on these issues throughout the debates. These remarks offer insight into candidates’ thinking in a more extemporaneous setting than typical campaign stops.
