A Poverty Ally Who’ll Be Greening the White House

It۪s official. OOTS just wrote about Van Jones and his well-received remarks at the recent Middle Class Task force meeting in Philly, and now we learn he is joining the White House Council of Environmental Quality (CEQ) as a Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. A coincidence? Perhaps. Ok, probably.

But regardless, it’s nice to see the environmental community embracing the “poverty and opportunity” message. As CEQ chair, Nancy Sutley noted in the press release, “Jones will [also] help to shape and advance the Administration۪s energy and climate initiatives with a specific interest in improvements and opportunities for vulnerable communities.” Wasting no time, Jones starts on Monday.
