How States are Delivering Benefits More Efficiently
Millions of working parents across the country qualify for state assistance to pay for food, medical expenses, and child care, but state systems often make it far too difficult to access those benefits, according to a report from the Urban Institute. Improving the Efficiency of Benefit Delivery summarizes how six states have streamlined their delivery systems to ensure that low-income families receive the full package of work supports for which they are eligible. The report finds that states participating in the Work Support Strategies initiative saw lower wait times for clients, savings for local and state agencies, and higher participation among eligible families.
