Low-Income Kids Have Far Less Conversation at Home
New research published in Psychological Science finds that young children who engage in more conversation at home have more brain activity when processing language, suggesting that back-and-forth conversation aids in brain development. The researchers also found that high-income children had 50 more conversational “turns” in a single hour than their counterparts in low-income households.
