Living Above Poverty Line No Guarantee of Stability

A study conducted by United Way finds that millions of American households that are officially classified as living above the poverty line cannot afford the basics of a middle-class lifestyle – such as rent, transportation, child care, and a cellphone. The study places more than 40 percent of American households in this “economically forgotten” group, and finds that their numbers are growing despite the improving economy.
