United Way of South Central Nebraska announces new program to tackle poverty

Posted on

“The United Way of South Central Nebraska has announced a new program to help tackle poverty in Adams, Nuckolls, Webster and Clay Counties.

Called ‘Bridging Forward,’ the program hopes to eradicate poverty in those counties by 2030.

‘We’ve been working with a pilot project of individuals, so we can really learn what’s working, what’s not working, what we need to pivot on,’ said Jodi Graves, Executive Director of United Way South Central Nebraska. ‘So we can figure out how we can scale this up now to work with 1,700 individuals.’

Graves also explained, ‘Poverty impacts so many different things in our community. Everything from test scores in kids, to liquid asset poverty rates.'”
