“Second, providing health insurance to the entire population is cost-effective. Allowing me and other Americans to see specialists and get the treatment we need keeps people out of the emergency room, where taxpayers would pay far more for our care. Studies by the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that researches health care, found that before Obamacare went into effect, the United States health care system was the most expensive in the world. And yet our country ranked below other nations in access to health care and the health of our citizens, with shorter life expectancies and more chronic health conditions.”
