There’s a 20-year gap in life expectancy for people living in these parts of the U.S.

“How long you live may depend on where you live. Life expectancy at birth for both sexes combined was 79.1 years overall, but differed by 20.1 years between the counties with the lowest and highest life expectancy, this study, published in Jama — Journal of the American Medical Association this month. What’s more, geographic inequality in life expectancy actually increased between 1980 and 2014. While this inequality in the risk of death fell among children and adolescents during that time, it increased among older adults.”
