The Class of 2016

A new report from the Economic Policy Institute examines trends in employment, underemployment, and wages to paint a picture of the economy facing new high school and college graduates. The Class of 2016 finds that while recent graduates have better economic prospects than any class since the 2008 recession, wages and employment rates are still stagnant for most young people. Nearly two-thirds of people age 24-29 do not have a college degree, contributing to high rates of underemployment, and wages of young graduates have stayed stagnant since 2000, according to the report. The report also finds significant racial disparities in recent graduates’ unemployment rates and education.
