“Every day, Maurice Maxwell, executive director of Family Service of Middletown, sees the faces of poverty. They walk into the food pantry by the hundreds each month, filling their cardboard boxes with groceries and clothing. The agency has between 600 to 700 in-takes a month, and each person is allowed to use the services once every 30 days.”
