SNAP benefits coming early for low-income families who need help buying groceries
“For the second month in a row, North Carolina recipients of federal SNAP benefits, formerly known as food stamps, will receive their monthly distribution early. The distribution from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will take place by March 3, the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services said Wednesday. The early distribution is part of the ripple effect from the partial federal government shutdown that lasted from Dec. 22 to Jan. 25.”
