September 27 Forum – Income Volatility: The Roller Coaster Ride Complicating Tax Policy, Social Safety Nets, and Daily Life

Posted on

Research shows that nearly two-thirds of low-income working-age adults live in households where income spikes or dips significantly at some point each year, resulting in financial stress and episodic poverty that safety net programs do not address. The Tax Policy Center will host a discussion on income volatility and how current policies help or hinder affected families. Speakers include Elaine Maag, senior research associate at the Tax Policy Center; Aparna Mathur, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute; Tim Ogden, managing director of the Financial Access Initiative at New York University; and Kate Griffin, vice president of programs at Prosperity Now. The event will be held at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C., from 12-1 p.m. EDT. Click here to register.
