Racial and Economic Inequality Persist 50 Years after Landmark Report
The country’s racial and economic divides have only deepened since the landmark 1968 Kerner Report that called attention to America’s “separate and unequal societies,” according to a 50-year update to the study released this week. Healing Our Divided Society argues that American policymakers have not done enough to address child poverty, racial discrimination, school and neighborhood segregation, and other issues highlighted in the original Kerner Report.
