Public Views on Groups Who Will Gain Influence in Biden Era
A new Pew Research Center survey of 5,360 adults explored the public view of which groups they believe will gain or lose influence under the Biden Administration. The survey showed that nearly two-thirds of respondents (65 percent) believe that Black people will gain influence in Washington, while just 14 percent believe Black people will lose influence and 20 percent say they will not be affected. Many respondents also expect that women (63 percent) and gay and lesbian people (60 percent) will gain influence over the next four years, while only one-in-ten expect each of these groups to lose influence. Respondents also indicated that they expect younger people (54 percent), Hispanic people (53 percent), low-income people (50 percent), and unions (48 percent) to gain more influence during Biden’s presidency.
