As public housing buildings go smoke-free, health advocates mobilize to help residents quit
“In U.S. public housing, 33.6 percent of residents smoke — more than twice the average rate of smoking for the general population. And research shows that in all settings, children, African-Americans, Latinos and those living below the poverty level are more likely to be exposed to secondhand smoke, according to the American Lung Association.”
