Proposed Arkansas law would bar people from buying soda and candy with food stamps
“An Arkansas lawmaker wants to control what food stamp recipients can buy. Republican state representative Mary Bentley wants to stop people from using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits on soft drinks, candy, energy drinks or dietary supplements. Bentley claims the law is aimed at combating the state’s obesity problem.”
