Poorest School Districts Receive Fewest State Dollars
School districts with the highest poverty rates receive about $1,000 less per student in state and local funding than those with the lowest poverty rates, according to a new report from The Education Trust. The report also finds deep racial disparities in school funding, with school districts serving the largest populations of black, Latino, or American Indian students receiving nearly 13 percent less funding per student than those serving the fewest students of color.
