Oceanside approves $3.5 million loan for homeless housing project

“California’s housing policy is “a disaster” and placing people in government-subsidized housing paid for with taxpayers’ dollars is not the answer, he said.

‘This is not even going to touch the need that we have,’ Rodriguez said. ‘It does not benefit Oceanside.’

Mayor Esther Sanchez offered a different view, calling the project ‘a huge investment in Oceanside.’

‘It’s really helping the hardest to house, folks who are homeless and may have mental health issues,’ Sanchez said, calling it ‘a huge feat’ for North County.”
