New study lauds food stamps’ anti-poverty impact as Trump weighs alternative

“As the Trump administration weighs slashing and dramatically reshaping the food-stamp program, a new study finds the program dramatically cuts the poverty rate. The Urban Institute released a study on what’s called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which is better known as food stamps. The program these days lets the nearly 42 million people who use the program use a debit card rather than physical stamps to buy food.”
