Nation Still Faces Severe Shortage of Affordable Homes
The U.S. faces a shortage of more than 7 million affordable and available rental homes for families below the poverty line, according to a new report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition. The Gap: A Shortage of Affordable Homes finds that the supply of affordable housing significantly lags behind the low-income population in every state and metropolitan area.
