Most Students In Massachusetts’ No-Interest Loan Program Are In Collection

More than half of the college students who borrowed from a Massachusetts loan program are in collection. That’s the finding of a report by the Hildreth Institute, a nonprofit that aims to replace student debt with grants and scholarships. The Massachusetts No Interest Loan Program allows students to borrow up to $20,000 in interest-free loans. The money has to be repaid within 10 years. Most eligible students are low-income.”
