Minimum Wage Increases Helped Low-Wage Workers in 2015
Wages for low-wage workers rose fastest in states that increased their minimum wage last year through legislation, according to a new report from the Economic Policy Institute. The report compares wage increases among low-income workers in the 11 states that increased their minimum wage through legislation; another 11 states that increased their minimum wage due to inflation; and the 27 states that did not increase their minimum wage at all. In states with a legislated minimum wage increase, low-income workers and women saw the greatest growth in wages, according to the report.
