Maine Public Broadcasting Network, January 25, 2016: Low-Income Maine Children More Likely to be Obese
“More than a third of children and adolescents in the U.S are overweight or obese, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. That’s twice as many overweight children than there were 30 years ago, and four times the number of overweight adolescents. Kids with extra weight are at a higher risk for chronic health conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes, and for mental health issues as well. And children from low-income families are especially vulnerable.”
