Low-Income Communities Better Served by Ride-Hailing Apps than Taxis

A three-year study of transportation equity in Los Angeles finds that ride-hailing services like Lyft and Uber provide better vehicle access to low-income communities than traditional taxis. The UCLA study not only found dramatically lower wait times for ride-hailing services, but also that taxis were far more likely to cancel rides for black and Hispanic riders.
