January 29 Briefing — What’s Next for Tax Credits for Low-Wage Workers?

Posted on

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is one of the rare anti-poverty programs that has fostered consensus among Republicans and Democrats, and last month Congress voted to permanently expand the credit. The Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) and Tax Credits for Working Families will host a Capitol Hill briefing to discuss the impact of that expansion and the likelihood of further EITC reform in 2016. Speakers include Kathryn Edin, author of $2.00 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America; Elain Maag, senior research associate at the Urban Institute; David Newville, director of government affairs at CFED; and Dylan Matthews, writer for Vox, who will moderate the panel discussion. The event will be held in rooms SVC 208-209 in the U.S. Capitol Visitors’ Center from 9 – 11:30 a.m. EST. Click here to register.
