“‘When the internet freezes multiple times and the students can’t hear what the teacher is saying, or it’s choppy or you can’t see the video the teacher is trying to play, it is very, very frustrating and many students become disengaged,’ Guss added.
Soledad Unified School District is hearing those internet access concerns from their families. The district has given its 1,100 hotspots to about 700 homes. The district said some areas have poor cell signals, meaning hot spots do not work, or some homes are equipped with cable infrastructure built-in. Educators say internet access is a vital part of education.”
