Inclusionary zoning discussed for Arcata, city still crafting code
“On Tuesday, the Arcata Planning Commission discussed a draft city zoning code that would require some units in new apartments to be affordable but expressed reservations about its current thresholds. Under direction from the city council, Arcata’s draft inclusionary zoning code would require developers who build 15 or more units to reserve 3% of the units for very low-income, 6% for low-income and 10% for moderate-income residents. The planning commission, while not overtly bucking that direction, sent the code back to the council politely urging them to instead adopt their recommendation for the code to trigger at 30 units.”
